The National Diploma in Technology (NDT) is a course with its origin at the Ceylon Technical College, Maradana in the late 1940 's' Originally this was referred to as the Junior Technical officers' Course (JTO) and later as the Technicians ' course. In early 1970's it acquired the name National Diploma in Technology (NDT) and it has not changed since.
The students who pass the NDT find jobs in industry and they serve as the link between engineers and skilled workers. with further education and training, they can aspire to be engineers themselves. Avenues are provided by the Institution of Engineers. Sri Lanka for this upward mobility. Several bright NDT 's have become Engineers by this method
The NDT student is a constituent member of the student community of the University with engineering and architecture students. The community at large expects certain aptitudes, attitudes and decorum of behaviour from the students in the University. it is up to each and every student to reciprocate with the expectations of the community and safeguard the good name of our University – The University of Moratuwa Our temple of learning.
